Rest and Rejuvenation by the Atlantic Ocean

It’s incredible how the soul rejuvenates after just a day devoted to rest.

A couple weeks ago, we took a trip down to the Atlantic coast of Florida. A kind friend of ours let us stay at their home near the ocean. Even though it was just a few days, the time spent here brought me a deep sense of reconnection and rejuvenation. After all, there is something so powerful and yet tranquil about the ocean. The way she is constant and never wavering.

I woke up the first day of our trip and went straight to water. The tide had been high the night before and their was a pool of water covering the beach. I let the cool waves brush against my toes and the cold water awakened my entire body. I saw miles of sand, people casually strolling by, and the bright sun glistening against the shore. Sometimes there is simply nothing to do, but admire earth’s beauty. To take in the nature that surrounds you and discover stillness.

When was the last time you really allowed yourself to relax to what was before you? To not fill your time with back-to-back plans, excessive chatter, and social media focused views, but to truly just be?

Don’t get me wrong, our trip was also filled by reconnecting with friends, visiting old spots, and taking photographs for memories- but I’ve found that the moments that often refuel our soul are the unplanned ones. The moments that just sort of come to you and it’s there were you can choose to keep moving busily, or allow space for real honest rest. Something we don’t often give ourselves permission to do.

So I leave you with this: For even just one day, give yourself—restno plansyou may discover you need it more than you even think you do!
