Top 5 books I Read in 2022

Ahhh the art of reading! It’s enlightening how much a good book can captivate our attention and transform us to another world. Good books have the power to open our perspectives and offer new lessons that we can translate in our daily lives.

I’ll be the first to admit, I love to read and usually opt for Audible on my recent reads. Who can blame me?! I am able to listen while walking my dogs, driving to Trader Joe’s or even showering! Call it Audible, hardcover, Kindle, or whatever your jam is—here’s a list of my favorite books from the past year!

I’ll preface this excerpt by saying I’m not normally into historical thrillers—-BUT this book completely enveloped me! It offered a unique insight into the rigor and dedication that took place to bring about the Chicago World Fair, while simultaneously telling the story of one of Americas first documented sociopaths. If you’re looking for eerie, this is it.

Greenlights

By: Matthew McConaughey

Now does this really need an introduction? The way McConaughey weaves together his life lessons and heartfelt stories makes you feel like you’re riding along side him as he narrates in an almost poetic like a autobiography. And I will say, if you go for the audible his smooth country twang makes you feel like you’re back home in Texas!

This was one of those books that I didn’t know what to expect. It was voted on in our book club and without reading any summaries I just sort of jumped right in! Brutally honest, heart wrenching, comical and down right empowering, this book has so much to offer! Don’t let the chemistry scare you away, you’ll find we all need a lesson (or two) from Elizabeth Zott.

The Water Keeper

By: Charles Martin

The Water Keeper hit close to home as it’s based in my old stomping grounds off the coast of Northeast Florida. I don’t want to spoil it by telling you what it’s about, but truthfully it deals with something that is in front of our eyes more often than we’d like to believe. Martin has a way of captivating the reader like few authors can. This book has two sequels and I binged all three just like people binge watch Netflix. Absolutely riveting and absolutely eye opening, I will never look at Yachts the same way…

I stumbled across this book at none other than ye old Home Goods. Let’s just say it was meant to be! Now FYI this is one of those books where you’ll want to highlight, draw arrows and scribble miscellaneous notes to yourself within its pages. I mean why is this not a course in college!? Anyhow, this is powerful stuff y’all! If you are looking for a book that will push you out of your comfort zone and challenge you to live the life you actually want to live, you’ll want this in your possession.

As we bid adieu to 2022 and welcome in the new year, I hope you give yourself time to read. After all, reading is SO good for the soul. Comment below if you’ve read any of these books or which ones you plan on snagging.

Now off you go— Happy Reading all!
