3 Reasons I Love Oklahoma City

When I first moved to Oklahoma City, it wasn’t love at first site…. Mind you, I moved here in the brink of January and the start of COVID- so a warm welcome wasn’t exactly in play. Almost 2 years later, as we pack our bags to head East, I can’t help but feel bittersweet to leave this place that we have called home.

Now that I think of it, I can’t exactly pinpoint when the shift happened, but somewhere along the way OKC grew on me. Whether or not you live here or plan to visit, here are 3 reasons that made me love this homey wind stricken city.

#1 The Local Biz

Ahhh the local business community in OKC is truly something! For me, this was one of my biggest worries when I first moved here. I had built so many tightknit connections to the local spots in Jacksonville, that I felt it’d be hard to find similar places in OKC. And I’ll admit, it’s easy to compare when you first move somewhere new, but what I’ve learned in my travels is that every city has its gems. And these gems are part of the unique blueprint that make a place one-of-a-kind.

So I wanted to share just a few of my favorites with you, whether you live here or plan to visit one day- make sure to add these local stops to your list!

#3 The People

So as we pack our final items into the U-haul, I leave feeling grateful for my time spent in the Sooner State. It’s funny how the most unexpected places are often times the best ones. Until later OKC- i’ll be seeing you again.
